Once again a car burns in a posh Hamburg neighbourhood. It’s almost become a routine, but this time something happens that the police have feared for a while: a person dies. A woman who apparently fell asleep in the car doesn’t manage to escape the burning vehicle in time. Inspector Thorsten Falke (Wotan Wilke Möhring) takes on the case and is confronted with an explosive mood in Hamburg. A vigilante group of citizens is formed, the radical left is in uproar, and more cars go up in flames. The young detective Katharina Lorenz (Petra Schmidt-Schaller) is partnered up with Falke on the case. As an expert in the State Office of Criminal Investigations she is responsible for arson cases. But the longer it takes to solve the case, the more the atmosphere in Hamburg threatens to spiral out of control…
