Experienced BKA officer Jan Schäfer (Tobias Oertel) is hired to protect a key witness at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in Hamburg. Fiona Weibel (Marlene Tanczik), an ambitious foreign employee of a Swiss shipping company, is to testify against her own company in an explosive trial. Fiona knows how dangerous their dark business in the Middle East is since an assassination attempt in Cairo, which the young businesswoman – unlike her boss Urs Beerenberg (Markus Graf) – survived. For the company heiress, Beerenberg’s daughter Claire (Anne Müller), there is a lot at stake in the court case: the idealistic justice worker Rasha (Sabrina Amali) wants to prove poison gas deliveries to war zones. A conviction and the future of the shipping company depend on Fiona’s testimony. For the whistleblower, the highest security level applies until the trial in Hamburg. Schäfer and his colleague Lansing (Slavko Popadic) are not the only ones waiting for her to arrive in Germany. On their way to the safe house, the experienced bodyguards have to realize that they are being followed by a killer gang that can hardly be shaken off with conventional methods. Schäfer, who follows “protocol” to the letter, must also recognize his limits when dealing with Fiona, who challenges him in an unusual way. The closer the trial and the persecutors get, the more unpredictable the state witness behaves.
